Saturday was not a dudd day, but a Dudley day.

With one of my wife's friends coming to visit, I had a leave pass for the day with instructions to be home by 4pm when my sister was due to arrive with her family in tow for diner.

I had been monitoring Seabreeze.com which for the previous few days had been predicting a pressure induced South Easterly flow, so I was looking forward to some Merewether time.

After breakfast, and a couple of chores were out of the way, I loaded up and hot-footed it to Merewether where no-one was, and it was crossed from the east.

Monday After Work

As soon as I finished work yesterday, I threw the glider on the roof of the car and headded out to Merewether.

The web had shown it as SE/SSE all day, so I figured it'd be a good day to do some practice landings/launches half way down. I've never done this before, so when I got to launch I spoke to Tony about it, and we discussed some options before he took off.

The southerly change was predicted to arrive wednesday evening so thursday was looking good. The synoptic chart and BOM forecast immediately triggered the thought, 'Merewether', suddenly images of flying there filled the mind and life was excellent once again. Merewether is the best.

Salt Bush to James Boag

Splint in salt bushes Great day yesterday, although it did not start out well for me. At 8am I rang Ebbs and we agreed that there had probably been too much rain around for the Wattagans to be any good and, in any case, the forecast was for SW winds which narrows down the launch options considerably. We decided to hook up on the coast if it came on. I got to Merewether at about 10:30 and it was SE and threatening to go further round to E. The sky was full of CUs and sunshine. There were a few paragliders out the front and they seemed to be pointing more S but the flag wasn't. Brett arrived from checking out Strezzi but being a restricted pilot he could not launch there. I advised him to get off Merewether while it was still launch-able and we both went and got our gliders.
