NHGC Vice President
The Newcastle Hang Gliding Club takes a keen interest in supporting hang gliding competition. Competition is an important tool to help pilots develop their flying skills, gain confidence and thereby enhance their safety.
Along with running our club competition, we also organize a number of other important competitions on the Australian Competition scene.
The first competition in our NSW Flying Season is the "Barraba Big Toe" generally held in November. This is an air towing competition held at the Barraba Airfield. An exiting opportunity for those wanting some fantastic flying condition paired with the convenience of being towed up to the thermals.
NSW State Titles Mt Borah and Manilla have become by-words within the Australian pilot's Lexicon for awesome flying. What better place could there be for the guns of Australia to duel it out for the prestigious title of NSW State Champion? So popular is this comp that the best pilots from around the country regularly compete.
Only a NSW HGFA pilot can be crowned state champ, but anyone from around the world can enter to win the comp.
