Hi Tony,

Further to our phone conversation Monday 9/4/09 about a survey to Hang Glider pilots. Would you be kind enough to forward this email to all your club members please. I would be grateful to all the members if they would respond to this questionnaire. I have abbreviated the questions to keep it simple, quick and easy . . .

Saturday was good but...

Dawson has it pretty much covered but words can’t really convey how good it felt to be circling up in smooth, organised, reliable lift, over a breathtakingly rugged and remote landscape, with mates on the radio enjoying the same thing, sharing the view and just bloody flying around drawing 20km wide star shapes on the GPS screen. The atmosphere was incredibly clear for such an unstable day. The Widden Valley and Wollemi area just looked surreal. Over dinner at the pub we agreed it was the best day’s flying in a very long time.

I changed my mind about all that on Sunday arvo.

Dalby Day 2

Many top pilots even if they did not get into goal still did PBs yesterday. The task committee wanted to set a open task but the software would not let them so they picked a waypoint that they thought no one would get to, Mitchell, which was 338km. But 12 pilots did make it and a lot of other got close . . .

Big day with strong tailwind. Goal was 338km. 12 in according to nick. We are at Roma now and waiting for Adam to be dropped off. He made goal. Ebbs and I did PBs, Ebbs 202km, Splint 180km. We were in the air for 4-5 hours. Now we have a 3 hour drive back.

Denman does damn fine

There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
that the colt from Old Regret had got away...

I let myself get excited when on Friday night, the NSW Rasp forecast for Saturday gave denman 6500' cloud base ( theoretically, as it was also predicting it to be blue) and climbs of 5-6 hundred feet per minute. The forecasts in the morning were not quite as optimistic, but not by much.

And had joined the wild bush horses
--- he was worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
