Meeting Minutes Oct '23 25/10/23 7:47 pm Apologies - Adriaan M, Joel T Meeting w/ Forestry Matter Arising from Minutes - Dixon Park Takeoff, council guy trimming bushes on takeoff side w/ a hedge trimmer, allegedly there is something in the works to fix the larger bush issues. Flights in the last month: - Good flying all around, mostly coastal. Plans to fly inland in the near future. Contact Jamie O for permission to fly Hoolies. Changing Hunter Airspace in Nov. More details to come - Rory D. new Forestry guy - Alex. Jamie working on contact and showing sites. Club has a brushcutter - Jamie O has it, can be used on request. More reinforcement about ratings and sites - i.e. novice pilots and Strezzie/Dicko. Barraba Big Tow is cancelled - running cost is excessive. - Fly in at Denman - Pete's place - Friday 10th til Monday 13th. Newcastle Airshow - weekend of 18th/19th Nov. - Specific information about NOTAMs etc. to be posted on Whatsapp. General Business - Sign at Merewether - approach council about installing accurate information about hang gliding operations on Hickson St. - Jamie O - Newcastle HPA Electric winches. Some members from each club doing training, more experienced pilots. - Club should ask on Tony's behalf about funding from NSWHPA to complete the towing endorsement. - Cameron E - Played chicken w/ a plane above Strezzie - 8/10. Close encounter in a Litespeed w/ a Cessna or equivalent. Cameron showed some undersurface and avoided collision. Related, sightseeing helicopters and gyros coming close. VHF radio could prevent further incidents. - Glider wires - Adriaan + Jamie given voucher for replacement wires. 90$ prize at the Prince. Donated by Simon. Will be used after a working bee. Treasurer's report - ~16000 and 1800 in Westpac. Safety Issue - Harry, Strezzie. Wind showing SE on launch, actually E. Wind reports on launch may be unreliable. Generally, dodgy flying conditions after strong NW swithcing to onshore days.
