As you may or may not know, there has been significant work carried out recently at Merewether to clear trees/shrubs down to a much lower level than we have ever been previously able to achieve. This has been due to the excellent work carried out by previous committee members in establishing a line of communication and understanding with National Parks and Wildlife rangers responsible for that area. After speaking with them today I can assure you that whilst they have no problem with the work carried out so far, they have also asked me to pass on to you all the need to restrain from clearing any more vegetation (other than Bitou bush) without prior approval and consent. To do so would only jeopardise the excellent working relationship that has been established thus far. Upon inspecting the launch I am sure you will agree that it is a vast improvement on what we have had to deal with for the past several years. We are also currently discussing with them the possibility of more work being carried out to enable easier launches from the bottom take off, but once again I stress the need for restraint until we have an official mandate on what is to be allowed. Enough serious talk for now...hope you all enjoy the new launch and bring on summer...safe flying to all
